Know More About The Causes Of Heartburn

For many people, the numerous heartburn or acid reflux medicines in the market do not offer much relief to them when they are experiencing this discomfort. Experiencing heartburn can be an extremely uncomfortable and painful experience. Heartburns are mostly caused by digestive discomforts, regurgitation of foods or drinks as well as chest pains and pressures. Heartburn can cause insomnia and a tremendous amount of pain to the sufferer.

It usually manifests itself as a sting on the throat or the chest while the individual is trying to swallow his food. With no immediate treatment, the heartburn is likely to progress to more serious complications. Common ailments include drastic weight loss, ulcers, esophagitis, strictures and other acid reflux complications. Prolonged untreated heartburn can cause weakness to the body.

As a first instinct, most sufferers opt to treat this heartburn with over the counter medications. They are however not always the best option. For starters, they are quite expensive but more importantly, they contain a mix of chemicals which can cause harm to the body if they are deposited in large quantities over a period of time. They may be absorbed into the blood if they aren’t completely taken in by the body and could cause cancer. Actually, these over the counter medicines tend to alleviate the symptoms and do not cure the complication itself.

The best way to get rid of the heartburn is first to get to know what type of foods or drinks cause you heartburns. Thereafter, you can keep away from them. Some of the foods that are known to be heartburn triggers include the citrus fruits, raw onions, chocolates, peppermints, black pepper, carbonated beverages, spicy foods and many more. Some bad eating habits are also among causes of heartburn. For instance, you may experience heartburn if you go to bed just immediately after meal. Else, a combination of some foods and distractions during eating can result to heartburns. Take time while eating; not engulf in it while not taking time to inhale. Paying attention to what you are eating will not only save you from heartburns but will also ensure you enjoy what you are eating.

Living a stress-free life is also another natural remedy for heartburn. Extreme mental pressure coupled with habits like smoking, excessive alcohol taking, and little time for rest are likely to lead to heartburns. If your mental state is not settled and you are stressed, then you might be in the search for a cure for heartburn for a longer time. And of course, a qualified medical practitioner should have a place in your fight against heartburn.
